DESCRIPTION:97th Meeting of the Executive Council\nFédération Mondiale des Travailleurs Scientifiques – World Federation of Scientific Workers\n(FMTS-WFSW)\nRemote Meeting: The target audience for the event will be the members of the WFSW Executive Council\, elected on 12 May 2022 at the 23rd General Assembly: EC 2022-2026 \nIt was decided in the 96th Executive Council celebrated in China that a virtual edition of the Executive Council (97th) will be organized before the face-to-face 98th Executive Council of Gif-sur-Yvette\, which is planned for May 2025. The International Secretariat of the WFSW has therefore decided to invite you to participate in the meeting of the 97th Executive Council in the form of 4 sessions in Videoconference Zoom: \n\n2 sessions on Tuesday 26 November 2024 from 11h30 to 15h30 p.m.\, Paris time (UT+1).\n2 sessions on Wednesday 27 November 2024 from 11h30 to 15h30 p.m.\, Paris time (UT+1). \n\nThe Videoconference will be held using the Zoom tool (https://zoom.us) with simultaneous English-French translation. The members of the Executive Council will be able to attend and speak at all sessions without registration. They will receive the zoom link at their e-mail addresses. In order to make the meeting as smooth as possible\, we strongly suggest that you submit your contributions in writing so that they can be distributed in advance and reviewed by everyone. The work program and the chairs and secretaries of the sessions follow in the next page. Treasurer Pascal Janots will soon send to you the proposal for the 2025 Budget. DESCRIPTION:Regional symposium on 28 and 29 November 2024 in Rabat\, Morocco\nOpen Science\, Democratising science\nAn initiative of the World Federation of Scientific Workers (WFSW) in partnership with UNESCO \nThe World Federation of Scientific Workers (WFSW) and the UNESCO are co-organising with the Mohammed V University in Rabat\, and a number of decision-makers and stakeholders in science  research and development\, a regional symposium\, ‘Democratising Science’\, dedicated to  discussing the ‘Implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation in the Arab Region’. \nAware of the importance of the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science as a tool to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\, to strengthen Science\, Technology and Innovation\, and to address the shortcomings of the tools and processes dedicated to scientific research and the circulation and use of its results in the Arab Region\, the WFSW invites stakeholders to a dedicated Regional Symposium. \nIt will discuss the pathways of Open Science and the appropriate measures to benefit from scientific advances in order to bridge the digital and technological divides between Arab countries and other countries around the world. \nThe symposium will also present the tools and processes devoted to research\, scientific publishing\, and the circulation and use of its results in the Arab region.
