In this post, F.Carvalho criticize the Call which proposes freezing fossil fuel extraction “by leaving untouched 80% of all existing fossil fuel reserves”.

F. Carvalho supports the objectives of COP 21 to reduce CO2 emissions to reduce green house gas. But he considers that “The proposal of freezing fossil fuel extraction “by leaving untouched 80% of all existing fossil fuel reserves” cannot in practice be made operational since it rests upon an undefined target”.

Instead of a “crash landing” by stopping the extraction of oil within 10 or 20 years, he opposes a “soft slanding” by an annual depletion rate of 2% of oil production.
