Address on Climate Change

Climate change
Address from the World Federation of Scientific Workers (WFSW)

The WFSW, convening in Beijing for its 96th Executive Council from 11 to 17 August 2024, calls on the world  community to fully recognize the urgency of climate change and to strengthen global mobilization in  response to this existential challenge.

Since COP15 in Copenhagen in 2009, international agreements on climate change have been gaining momentum. However, the commitments of nations are insufficient to respect these agreements. In particular,  the countries that bear the main responsibility for global warming are in denial of it. Moreover, these  international agreements are themselves inadequate, because they do not take into account the major risks of  accelerating global warming. The WFSW therefore calls for refining and strengthening the climate strategy and mobilization.
